Hurricanes’ forward Matt Cullen showed his former team that he still can play hockey. Contributing to his teams’ 4:0 victory at the Madison Square Garden, Cullen had one goal and added an assist, but the goal was later credited to teammate Scott Walker as the puck did not struck Cullens’ stick.

It seems that last year's NHL Stanley Cup finalist, the Ottawa Senators quickly forgot about their finals set-back, where they lost in five games to the Anaheim Ducks. After signing their last two year's best scorer Dany Heatley, who had 50 goals in each of last two seasons, they started new season with a winning streak. Heatley agreed to terms on a six-year, $45 million extension and replied to his team with seven points in four games as he scored four times.
